Police investigating Bellagio casino burglary in Las Vegas

Chicago teacher fired for telling student to stand for Pledge of Allegiance

An investigation is underway at the Bellagio after a burglary at a retail store early Saturday morning.

"Initial reports indicated there was an active shooter, however that proved to be false", police said in a statement.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed they are "currently investigating [a] burglary".

First, the suspects couldn't start their auto in the hotel's parking garage and then they failed to carjack another driver, Lt. Carlos Hank told the paper. The Bellagio houses other high-end jewelry stores, including Tiffany and Omega.

One of the suspects was seen wearing a pig mask as the group used sledgehammers to smash windows at the then-closed store just before 1 a.m., according to witnesses.

The suspects wore character masks during the incident, including a pig mask seen in photos from the scene posted on social media. Michael Rodriguez said all shots fired were isolated inside the store.

According to United States media outlets, unknown persons in pig masks opened fire in the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas. According to police, three people entered the Bellagio wearing nice suits and animal masks, before grabbing several items and fleeing.
