Several homes and businesses in the Denton area were damaged by the large hail, reports the Dallas Morning News, along with numerous vehicles.

The storm is now moving east toward to the Mississippi River valley, spanning from Mississippi to Indiana.

Hail the size of softballs fell on parts of Texas and Oklahoma Sunday night as storms rolled through the southern Plains.

More stormy weather is ahead for South Arkansas.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning means National Weather Service meteorologists have determined that a severe thunderstorm is occurring or likely to occur. They said that could carry the threat for severe storms, but it is too far out to specify hazards.

According to the National Weather Service, in Louisville, Ky., strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening. This one has the potential to bring not only heavy rain but also severe storms to parts of the Southeast.

The severe weather happened as residents in the Deep South cleared branches and worked to restore power from earlier weekend storms. A tornado or two is not out of the question, the weather service said.
