The driver, who is suspected of trying to run over the officers, is now in custody, police said.

No one was injured.

Earlier Wednesday morning, police noticed a woman who they described as an "erratic and aggressive driver", traveling near 100 Independence Avenue Southwest.

House Speaker Paul Ryan issued a statement after the incident, saying: 'We are grateful today and every day for the valor and dedication of the Capitol Police'.
