Oculus Founder Palmer Luckey Leaving Facebook

Oculus founder Palmer Luckey

His inventive spirit helped kickstart the modern VR revolution and build an industry.

Luckey has certainly seen better days since putting the company together, including supporting a pro-Donald Trump political group with controversy surrounding it, with a number of "shit-posting" anti-Hillary Clinton memes.

Palmer Luckey, who founded Oculus Rift and who many credit with reviving the virtual reality industry, has left Oculus VR and Facebook, as UploadVR reports. "We're thankful for everything he did for Oculus and VR, and we wish him all the best".

In September 2016 Luckey shied away from the spotlight following community and developer backlash to his association with a polarizing political group Nimble America, which was involved in funding a billboard campaign against Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. presidential election.

The social network, which acquired Oculus in 2014 for $2 billion, confirmed the news Thursday with a statement.

Children's exposure to lead linked to intelligence, lower job prospects
This study was supported in part by grants from the US National Institute on Aging, as well as United Kingdom government grants. Children playing outside were prone to either breathe in lead-laden dust, or swallow small amounts of leaded soil.

Luckey apologized on Facebook, writing that he was "deeply sorry that my actions are negatively impacting the perception of Oculus and its partners".

The virtual reality entrepreneur has been in hot water for awhile now. Facebook was ordered in February to pay ZeniMax $500 million to cover the damages. Facebook said it will appeal the decision.

Facebook representatives declined to comment on Upload VR's inquiry as to whether Luckey's departure was voluntary. It looks like someone-executives at Oculus, Facebook, or Luckey himself-saw fit to make the separation permanent.
