Chance the Rapper Plans 'Major Announcement' About CPS Funding

Just weeks after announcing a $1 million donation to Chicago Public Schools, Chance the Rapper on Friday held a second press conference to unveil the New Chance Arts & Literature Fund in Chicago. That kept promise means twelve more public schools will receive $10,000 individually.

Today, Chance held another press conference at Paul Robeson High School in Englewood to announce that the Chicago Bulls have contributed an additional $1 million to his fund.

Following Chance's initial million-dollar donation, Billboard published a poignant letter from three 10th grade students in the Chicago public school system, thanking the rapper for his support.

His efforts have been incredibly successful thus far, as after just over a month of campaigning, Chance and his team have raised almost $2.2 million (£1.7 million) towards their goals. He said, "We all know the IL education system is one of the most underfunded in the nation".

5 stars Arsenal need to sell to become competitive again
Wenger offered no update on his contract situation on Thursday - but he did say plans for his future are "not sorted completely". In a bid to get out of the rut, the Frenchman says the team will be sticking to what they know best against a strong City side.

For the Bulls, it's all about giving back to a public school infrastructure that's lagging behind others in terms of educational attainment. "Students have lost valuable teachers, supplies, access to after school and enrichment programs, especially in the arts and special needs programs".

Chance says for every $100,000 donated to CPS, his fund will match it with $10,000 is matching for specific schools.

CPS should get the $2 million in donations from the rapper and the Bulls in the next school year, according to Chance and Ingenuity.

The rapper, who is now hunting for an intern, previously met with Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner to discuss Chicago's public school system.
