"According to recent reports, the attack resulted in the deaths of five soldiers and nine civilians and the wounding of thirteen women and children who were in the nearby Shayrat village".

The US military attacked the Syrian government's Shayrat Airfield near Homs with 59 tomahawk missiles on Thursday evening.

April. 8: As many as nine civilians, including four children were killed in the United States missile attack on a military airbase in central Syria on Friday. It adds that another USA missile fell in a nearby village, around two miles away from the airbase, killing four civilians, including one child.

The Syrian army had said earlier that six people were killed in the strike on the base - the first time that the United States has directly attacked the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

Officially announcing the strike, US President Donald Trump claimed that the targeted airfield had launched the chemical attack on the rebel-held area in Idlib.
