The 30-share index resumed higher at 29,630.06 and hovered in a range of 29,787.05 and 29,570.58 before quoting at 29,730.47 at 1234 hours, showing a gain of 154.73 points or 0.52 per cent.

Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 55.55 or 0.61% at 9,237.00 with 37 components registering rise. The gauge had lost 398.50 points in the previous three sessions. The quarterly results are going to kick off with Infosys announcing its numbers on Thursday.

Infosys climbed almost 2 percent ahead of its quarterly earnings due on Thursday.

Commenting on the sector specific movement, Dhruv Desai, Director and Chief Operating Officer of Tradebulls said that IT stocks witnessed selling pressure throughout the session, whereas banking, media and metals remained top performers.

At NSE, shares of the company rose sharply by 9 per cent to close at Rs 159.35.

Turnover in the cash segment rose to Rs 26,594.05 crore from Rs 23,570.11 crore yesterday.
