The Iowa governor has ordered all flags on the Capitol grounds to be flown at half-staff to observe the Iowa Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony this week.

"We thank their families and their coworkers for their support and their sacrifice, because they also share in that sacrifice", according to Ryan. We think about Officer Johnson and a speedy recovery. The service included the presentation of colors, a 21-gun salute by the JSO Honor Guard and final roll call. The list began just eight months after the State Police came into existence, when Trooper Eugene Teague died in a gunbattle with John Dillinger's gang in 1933. "We remember all of the officers across the country that have made the ultimate sacrifice." said, Chief Craig. "Professionals who go out of their way to let the young and old know they are not the enemy but our protectors who are also members of our community". "We had an Officer Callahan who was killed in the line of duty with the Douglas County Sheriff's office". Officer Brad Lancaster was shot and killed a year ago this month near the Hollywood Casino.
