BSP expels its Muslim face for anti-party activities

Nasimuddin Siddiqui

Coming down heavily on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, ousted party leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui on Thursday accused the former of labelling the Muslims as "traitors" after debacle in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Referring to purported clippings of audio recordings released by the former BSP General Secretary at his presser earlier in the day, the former Chief Minister said these had been "doctored" to defame her.

Mayawati claimed that when some workers were asked about the deposit of party's membership drive and they said the amount had been given to Siddiqui. He also claimed that he and his son Afzal were expelled on the basis of "false allegations".

Responding to expelled BSP leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui who on Thursday accused her of insulting people from the Muslim community, party supremo Mayawati said during the assembly elections people approached her and told her that Siddiqui was a "blackmailer", as reported by news agency ANI.

Refuting the charges of corruption, extortion, blackmailing levelled by the party leadership against him, Siddiqui said he sacrificed everything for the party as he was a believer in the ideologies of BSP founder Kanshiram.

"I warned that if he can not give proper account, he will have to pay it himself.I will not allow him to usurp party money which belongs to the poor and deprived through which we run the party.I do not want your property money.I simply want the account of poor peoples' money", she said.

Energy chief: Tunnel hole filled at Hanford N-waste site
The rail tunnel was built in 1956 out of timber, concrete and steel, and topped by eight feet of dirt. It was a nuclear chemical processing plant, as well as a site for radioactive waste disposal.

Unaware that her own trusted lieutenant was recording the conversation, in one of the tapes, Mayawati purportedly can be heard cautioning Siddiqui not to talk much on phone as her phone was "being tapped". Siddiqui, who was expelled along with his son a day ago, said he had "ample proof" that Mayawati, her brother Anand and party General Secretary Satish Chandra Mishra made illegal demands to him. "My daughter died without treatment and I did not even go for her last rites". According to the IE report, Mayawati said sale of sugar mill was done by the Cabinet and Naseemuddin's department.

Mr. Nasimuddin's sacking was announced here by BSP Rajya Sabha MP Satish Mishra, who is now the virtual No. 2 public figure in the BSP after the former's exit.

He also claimed that during a meeting on April 19 Mayawati had tried to belittle Kanshi Ram by comparing party's showing in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab Assembly polls.

The BSP had expelled the senior MLA and his son for alleged "anti-party" activities.

"Mayawati ji ne mujhe bula kar poocha ki Musalmano ne BSP ko vote kyun nahi diya? I will expose it all to you", he said, according to India Today.
